Harrison Gibson used to be the Quality store to go to for furniture, Havelock for a pint, one of the first McDonald’s for a burger; room at the top for a club night! Probably none of those there anymore!

So, she was the nice South African people claim doesn't exist?
(Actually, she got into trouble for being nice to Black people in SA)

Sharing a house with two pals when I was about 18 we'd see her all the time in East Ham. Actually she was quite good looking and we always smiled at each other when passing on the street.
When you are 18 it's virtually impossible to get a sentence out to a famous person but I wish I had spoken to her, she kind of had an aura about her that told you she was a nice person.
I hope you didn't suffer in what is anyone's nightmare way of going. Rest in peace Anna, an East End gem.

Wasn't there a thread sometime last century remarking how good-looking she was (when she wasn't Olive)?
Anyway, RIP.

Sad news and another of those actors/actresses/musicians etc. us old gits remember. Perhaps a hankering for the pre-pc / misogyny of yesteryear which was done "tongue in cheek" etc. but of course reflecting the truth too.
Arfur's character was brilliant and the dialogue for the whole Butler family in OTB was basically telling eachother to shut up. Lines like "Shut up ya fat lump!" from Arfur, the old romantic fool that he was ;-)
Anyway, tragic way to go for someone that sounded like a good person :-( RIP Olive

I believe she broke her spine a few years ago and so was unable to get out of her bed.
For some reason this makes it seem even sadder.

(one of my favourite TV comedy moments was when the motorcycle side car came off and it ended up in a nearby river with her in it...think it was one of the OTB films?)
